MY Dérive

My friends and I decided to explore Williamsburg on a crisp Saturday with the autumn air thick around us. Opting for the simplest method, we left our path entirely up to chance. One option led us towards Manhattan, while the other pointed us in the direction of Queens. The flip of a coin, a method I've always favored for decision-making, determined our course. With heads up, we set our sights on Williamsburg.

As we journeyed, we added an extra layer of randomness to our adventure. Our secondary rule was to turn whenever we encountered a red light, steadfastly avoiding any wait time. Along the way, we explored enticing shops and eateries, choosing our lunch destination spontaneously. Surprisingly, the chosen restaurant happened to be along our designated route.

Despite the cold weather making the outdoor exploration challenging, we adhered to our rules until we found ourselves in a cozy eatery. Eventually succumbing to the chilly conditions, we decided to conclude our adventure with an Uber ride back home. While the unconventional rules may have seemed to consume more time than expected, the liberating feeling of not being confined to a set plan made the experience truly worthwhile.
